The Teresa Way Awards
Teresa Way was the Clerical Officer for the WA Deafblind Association for seven years before her very sad death.
Teresa Way was deafblind herself and was an amazing person with a positive attitude and an enormous sense of humour which triumphed despite her history of medical complications, several hip replacements and her deafblindness.
Teresa Way was totally committed to helping others and volunteered every week to the WA Deafblind Association and to the Royal WA Institute for the Blind - the forerunners to the Senses Foundation.
In 2003 the Senses Foundation Board determined to name its highest Award in honour of Teresa Way.
The Teresa Way Awards
The Teresa Way Awards recognise a person, a business or a community organisation who/which has made a significant contribution to a person or people who are deafblind and their families through;
- a non monetary contribution to the Senses Foundation services for people who are deafblind or to an individual person who is deafblind.
- being a positive role model for people who are deafblind.
- a financial contribution to the Senses Foundation services for people who are deafblind.
A staff member of Senses Foundation is not eligible for the Teresa Way Award.
