Applying for a Position

1. Covering Letter (PDF format).

2. Job Application Form (PDF format/Ms Word format).

3. A Duty Statement that includes the selection criteria (downloadable from the relevant vacant position page).

To apply for a position, you must complete and return an Application for Vacant Position form, include a covering letter introducing yourself and address the selection criteria as contained in the Duty Statement, this is the most important part of your application.

If you have any queries regarding the position, please contact the officer nominated in the advertisement.

If there is no vacant position, you can still obtain an Application for Vacant Position Form by clicking the link below.

Please check the closing date of the position stated in the advertisement.  Late or Pro-forma applications will not be accepted.

Your application:
The information you provide will be used by a selection panel to determine suitability for interview.  Your application should demonstrate how you meet all the essential selection criteria. It is extremely important that you include information about your previous experience, skills, knowledge and qualifications that make you a suitable applicant.

What happens to my application once received?
Once applications have closed on a vacant position a selection panel will be formed from staff within our organisation, however, there are times when “expert” assistance from outside the organisation is called upon. The selection panel will review all applications and determine those most suitable for an interview.  You will be contacted if you are short listed for an interview.  This process can take some time.

Interview requirements:
Applicants who are short listed for an interview will be required to obtain a current (less than (6 months old) National Police Certificate. Applicant who reach this stage and will be working with children will also be required to obtain a Working With Children Check.  This criteria will be listed within the Duty Statement or a representative from Senses will contact you.

NATIONAL POLICE CERTIFICATE:
A National Police Certificate lists your disclosable criminal history, recorded in any Australian police jurisdiction.  If you require this certificate you need to apply at your local police station and provide suitable identification.

WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECKS:
All staff who are involved in child related work must have a current Working with Children’s Assessment. Application forms can be obtained from selected Australia Post Offices.  Please note that the Senses (“employer”) must complete a section of the form prior to you submitting it.  Applications are lodged at the post office once completed.

A National Police Certificate is not a substitute for a WWC or visa versa both are required.
