Our Services

Respite

Senses Foundation provides respite and family support to carers, to allow them to have a break from this caring role.  This service strengthens and maintains the capacity of families to provide ongoing support and care for their family member with a disability.

Respite offers families the opportunity for some additional support, at times when they need it most. Respite can take place in the family home or out in the community.

Respite aims to help people with disabilities to:

  • Experience positive relationships
  • Make informed decisions and choices which impact on their lifestyle
  • Develop a network of supports
  • Develop their sense of well-being, socially, mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually and culturally.

Respite should provide:

  • EFFECTIVE Support - i.e. A family, new to Australia, is receiving a culturally sensitive respite service with the care plan and other information is provided in their first language, enabling the family to feel comfortable and supported.
  • The RIGHT Support - The care plan for a person has acknowledged the need for the family to have support at the time which is right for them – during the week, at weekends and/or on school holidays.
