School Age Therapy Program
Senses Foundation provides therapy services to school age children of all disability types, living in the metropolitan area. The program provides speech pathology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and social work (clinical psychology is available when required). Therapy is provided in the child’s natural environments ie. home and school.
The program is based on the following four principles:
- Family-Centred Practice - focusing on goals that are identified as important by the family, and recognising that the child’s family/carers are the “expert” when it comes to their child
- Collaborative Approach - working together with the child’s family, school and other stakeholders in order to achieve the best outcomes for the child
- Therapy in Everyday Activities - embedding therapy into the child’s everyday routine and activities
- Family Empowerment – we want the family/carers to feel comfortable making decisions and helping their child
*This program is not available to children attending an Education Support School.
