Community Living Services

A person centred service which enables a person with a disability to live in the manner they choose, in the community.

Senses Foundation’s Community Living Services support people with a disability to live as independently as possible in their home in the community.  Their home may be with mum and dad, or their spouse, on their own in a house or a unit, with friends of their choice in a shared house or with a group of other people with disabilities.

The amount of care provided through the Community Living Services is designed to enable the individual to live safely in the community while encouraging and enabling the person to use all of the services and facilities available to everyone living in the community, including public transport. Therefore support provided varies from a few hours a week to 24 hours per day depending on the individual’s need.

The Community Living Services is funded by the West Australian Government through the Disability Services Commission. An individual must be assessed as eligible for Accommodation Support Funding or Intensive Family Support Funding and must apply through the Combined Application Process (CAP) via the Disability Services Commission.  When funding is obtained, Senses Foundation and the individual with a disability or their family develop a program of accommodation support that meets the needs of the individual.
