Recreation
Developing skills, making friends, having fun.
Senses Foundation’s Recreation Program is all about encouraging people with disabilities to develop new skills and interests and make friends with like minded people. The focus of the Recreation Program is to encourage participation in the community, offer a challenge and have a great time.
Each person’s particular skills, aspirations and interests are taken into account in the recreation program. Each person can participate on a weekly or fortnightly basis, or for blocks of time, or infrequently as they wish.
Activities within the Senses Foundation recreation program have included enjoying pottery classes; building fitness; participating in knitting classes; participating in social clubs in the community; conducting informal Auslan classes; and - two of the most popular activities – participating in canoeing and bush walking.
Recreational camps are also proving very popular.
