Respite and Intensive Family Support

Two programs for families which strengthen and maintain the capacity of families to provide ongoing support and care for their family member with a disability.

Senses Foundation provides respite and family support to carers, to allow them to have a break from their caring role.  This service strengthens and maintains the capacity of families to provide ongoing support and care for their family member with a disability.

Services can be provided through two programs, the Respite Program or through Intensive Family Support.  The Respite Program designs a program around the needs of the family and their family member with a disability. It offers a family flexible care for their family member with a disability either in the family home, out in the community or uniquely to suit the family. The key aspect of the Respite Program is that it meets the needs of each individual family and their unique situation.

Intensive Family Support is funded by the West Australian Government through the Disability Services Commission. An individual must be assessed as eligible for this service and must apply through the Combined Application Process (CAP) via the Disability Services Commission.  Intensive Family Support assists families who have needs that cannot be met through other informal or formal supports. When funding is obtained, Senses Foundation and the family develop a program of individual respite that meets the needs of each individual family and their unique situation.
